If there's anything I've learned this past year working at camp is that God can do cool things when people are willing to just put in the work. I heard someone compare hard work to dog sledding a few weeks ago and it really got me thinking.....how sled dogs work hard and never stop till they reach their goal, they survive, they listen and abide to their authority, they run as a team/unite, they do it with an attitude of loyalty and eagerness, they endure harsh conditions sometimes...I want to always have the same outlook on hard work. So we looked at some diagrams of sled dog harnesses and came up with these symbols that represent this concept to us. Camp has shown me what happens when God allows that hard work to flourish and it almost never ends up with recognition and an applause. Our hard work enabled campers to see God this summer...whether it be paddling/hiking miles and miles in the Texas heat or feeding 600+ people three times a day. It's bigger than just hiking when a camper stands to his feet, maneuvers his pack back onto his sweaty shoulders after a bad case of heat exhaustion and continues to put one step in front of other because prayer has power and he never understood that till he experienced such physical weakness. It's bigger than just food when that food nourishes and provides energy for campers who routinely live under hazy, polluted skies, to stay up a bit later to see the milky way right before their eyes. And that's the coolest thing. God gets all the glory as long we are willing to do our job to the best of our ability. And I'm forever grateful for a friend like Amber, who has always pushed me to work hard and stay close to the one who breathed those stars. And Ashley!! Super sweet job thank you so much bud...I love y'all so much…
